Books by three Vancouver Island authors are finalists for the Governor General s Literary Awards. VIA GGBOOKS.CA Three authors from Vancouver Island have been named as finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Awards, celebrating the 70 best books published in Canada last year. Victoria’s Sarah Cassidy and Polly Horvath and Royston’s Jordan Scott earned nominations Tuesday in two Young People’s categories. Cassidy won her nomination for Nevers, a book set in Burgundy, France, in 1799, while Horvath drew her nod for Pine Island Home, which follows the journey of four orphans who are sent to live in a remote area of British Columbia.
