Adopt a Pet From This Binghamton Animal Shelter

Adopt a Pet From This Binghamton Animal Shelter National Pet Day is April 11th and you could put a smile on a cat s or dog s face. Colleen Paige, pet and family lifestyle expert, started National Pet Day in 2006 and they are celebrating its 15th year on Sunday. She wanted to bring attention to the ongoing needs of pets of all kinds that are waiting to be adopted. During the past year were you quarantined, stuck inside, bored, lonely, or stressed? We adopted the cats from the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue in Binghamton. The BC Human Society receives no government funding, so the pandemic was extremely hard on them.

Leslie Appel: Helping animals through shelter outreach services

ITHACA, NY Leslie Appel knew before she even started kindergarten that she wanted to be an animal doctor. Growing up in Scarsdale, New York, other kids considered where they would apply to college. Even if her parents didn’t quite “get it” about vet school, they were really supportive of Leslie’s dream. Leslie applied to Cornell. Once on her chosen path, she was focused on learning everything she could so she could attend the best vet school to become the best veterinarian she could be. “As soon as I arrived in Ithaca, I fell in love with this area, this community,” she said. “I loved my time at Cornell and knew that I wanted to stay in Ithaca for my life and work.” After undergraduate graduation, Leslie fulfilled her lifetime dream, graduating from Cornell’s renowned College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.
