(WBNG) Authorities say an inmate at the Broome County Correctional Facility was arrested for hiring someone to commit multiple kidnappings and murders.
In a news release, the Broome County Sheriff s Office says it charged 48-year-old Harold M. Cole with two counts of conspiracy in the second degree and two counts of conspiracy in the fourth degree. These charges are felonies.
The Sheriff s Office says Cole was jailed for kidnapping and during his jail time he was charged for violating an order of protection.
Cole s activity was then monitored by detectives.
The Sheriff s Office says Cole is accused of hiring another person to commit murders and kidnappings following a three-month-long investigation.
Binghamton Woman Accused of Stealing $20,000 from Fenton Resident
A bank notified an elderly Broome County woman of suspicious activity involving her accounts and that resulted in a grand larceny arrest.
Authorities say 69-year-old Theresa O Connell of Binghamton has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the woman while acting as her power of attorney.
Investigators say the town of Fenton woman contacted the Broome County Sheriff s Office, which retained a forensic accountant to determine where the money went.
O Connell has been charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny. She allegedly stole $20,000.
The charges were filed with courts in Binghamton and Johnson City. The money was withdrawn in separate $10,000 transactions in each jurisdiction.

Barefoot man arrested on assault charge in Town of Conklin
(WBNG) Authorities say a man was arrested following an investigation into an assault that left a woman injured Friday afternoon.
The Broome County Sheriff s Office says it charged 35-year-old Adam G. Gurney with assault in the second degree, a class C felony, after discovering a woman with serious injuries at a residence.
He was also charged with the misdemeanor of resisting arrest.
The sheriff s office says deputies were dispatched to Brady Hill Road in the Town of Conklin for a report of a man causing a disturbance. They say he was barefoot and yelling for help, but was also incoherent and rambling.
