Windsor man shot after exchanging gunfire with Broome County deputies

Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin A Windsor man was shot and wounded during a confrontation with Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Saturday morning. According to authorities, deputies responded to a residence on Cascade Valley Road in Windsor at about 12:34 a.m. following a report of a person discharging a firearm toward a vehicle that was turning around near the end of a driveway. The sheriff’s office said that after arriving at the scene, deputies were confronted by a male armed with a handgun. Deputies exchanged gunfire, striking the suspect with a projectile in the shoulder area. It is unclear from a media release issued by the Sheriff s office if the man was shot with a bullet or not.

Suspect in Broome County shooting that injured NY trooper in custody

Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin New York State Police said the suspect, identified as Jason D. Johnson, 34, no address given, was spotted around 4:30 p.m. Thursday and taken into custody near a river bank off state Route 79. Johnson is accused of shooting Trooper Becky Seager, a seven-year veteran of the New York State Police assigned to the Binghamton barracks. The incident developed shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when representatives from the state police and Broome County Sheriff s Office responded to 1348 E. Windsor Road in the Town of Colesville to check on the welfare of a person, state police said. Responding officers reportedly found a man with a long gun who disappeared into the woods. Gunshots were fired in the woods a short time later.
