Margin Walker Presents, the largest independent promotion company in Texas, has announced it is closing at the end of this week due to the economic impact of COVID-19.  For most of us in the biz, March marked the beginning of the close of live entertainment, which continues now, and will continue for a long time to come, the Austin-based company said in a statement. The uncertainty and lack of resources have hammered down on those working in this world from venues to artists to festivals, promoters, and beyond.

(Pixabay) SAN ANTONIO – The coronavirus pandemic has silenced Margin Walker Presents, a major Texas concert promoter that brought talent to San Antonio’s Paper Tiger and Sunset Station in the pre-quarantine age. The booking agency on Monday announced that due to the COVID-19 crisis, which has ravaged the live music business, Margin Walker Presents will close as a business this week. “Thank you for trying to help us keep our doors open as long as possible,” the agency said on Instagram. “We hoped we could weather this unprecedented storm, but sadly we couldn’t.”

Over the past four years, Austin-based Margin Walker has booked thousands of concerts into club and hall-sized venues that also include Austin s Mohawk and Barracuda and Dallas Club Dada. The agency was also tapped to handle booking for San Antonio s rebranded Sunset Station. However, once the pandemic hit the U.S. in March, touring all but dried up.

Austin-Based Promotion Company Margin Walker Closes Its Doors

Texas Public Radio San Antonio s Paper Tiger is one of several live entertainment venues that worked with Margin Walker Presents to book shows. Though the COVID-19 vaccine has arrived, the financial burden of the pandemic is nowhere near its end. Several industries have been hit particularly hard, especially live entertainment. Austin-based promotion company Margin Walker Presents is the latest to close its doors. Live entertainment came to an immediate halt in March, and for the most part, that’s continued through the country’s summer surge and its current fall surge. For Margin Walker, that meant rescheduling canceled 2020 shows and beginning to schedule shows in 2021.
