New Delhi, May 20 : In the wake of pandemic, Sports Authority of India (SAI) has decided to extend medical and accident insurance cover to more than 13,000 athletes, coaches and support staff. Insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh each will be provided to all national campers. Khelo India and junior athletes training at SAI Centre of Excellence will also come under the scheme. But in case of accident or death, the insurance cover is Rs 25 lakh, SAI said in a statement.

Bengaluru, May 19 : Indian men s hockey team midfielder Sumit said on Wednesday that the team is closely watching the ongoing FIH Pro League matches in Europe to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics in July.
India were scheduled to travel to Europe this month to play a series of Pro League games but the matches were postponed due to restrictions on travel from the country due to rising Covid-19 cases. We have been closely watching the teams which are currently playing their Pro League matches. We are analysing their style of play and structure to use them during our practice sessions, said Sumit, who is training with the squad at the Sports Authority of India s centre at Bengaluru.
The sports ministry on Wednesday approved Rs 2,50,000 for international powerlifting coach, Joseph James, to meet the hospitalisation expenses incurred on Covid-19 treatment.Winner of the 2006 Asian Games gold in Doha and the Asian Powerlifting .
