As a brand that has moved all its eggs into the crossover basket, Buick has a lot riding on the release of its all-new 2021 Envision.
In a media event timed to coincide with the vehicle’s release to the public, Buick shares details and pricing information for the new Envision, which gets overhauled styling, updated tech and safety features and upscale options.
Powering the entire ’21 Envision line is a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cyl. that produces 228 hp and 258 lb.-ft. (350 Nm) of torque. It’s mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and standard front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional and brings with it a twin-clutch feature that can shift power between wheels where traction is needed most.

What’s new
The Buick Encore GX gets a couple of notable changes for the 2021 model year. All trims now come standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. SiriusXM satellite radio is a new standard feature as well. Finally, adaptive cruise control is now available as an option for the entry-level Preferred trim.

The 2021 Buick Encore GX has received a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The subcompact crossover received the highest-possible score of five stars in the NHTSA’s frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the safety watchdog’s rollover crash test evaluations, giving it an overall score of five stars.
The 2020 Buick Encore GX, by comparison, only received a four-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. This was mainly due to the three-star rating it received in the agency’s Front Passenger Side crash test. However, General Motors engineers went back to the drawing board to improve the vehicle’s design for 2021, which resulted in a four-star rating in the Front Passenger Side crash test, thus earning it a five-star overall rating.
