Maryland DNR to Stock Channel Catfish into Local Ponds
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources plans to stock about 1,000 channel catfish into 11 ponds in central, eastern, and southern Maryland beginning in May. This is a wonderful opportunity for Maryland anglers to catch fish in areas that are not suitable aquatic habitats for traditional recreational species stocking.
Ponds will be stocked with 20 fish per acre, and the fish will weigh three to five pounds each. The catfish should provide fishing opportunities for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned angler, and is an excellent chance to introduce youths or novice anglers to fishing.

DEP announces trout season in New Jersey will begin on April 10
More than 500,000 freshly stocked rainbow trout will be available when anglers cast their lines in New Jersey waters this April, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Acting Commissioner Shawn LaTourette announced.
The official trout season kicks off at 8 a.m. April 10. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, anglers are reminded to maintain a 6-foot distance from one another while fishing and to wear a face masks or face covering, according to a press release.
“Thanks to DEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife, which has been hard at work with advanced trout stocking, New Jersey residents and visitors can enjoy trout fishing while avoiding crowds and maintaining social distancing, because the trout raised at our Pequest Hatchery have already had time to spread out themselves,” LaTourette said.

Fishing is an enjoyable pastime, especially here in Florida. In fact, there are approximately 4 million saltwater and freshwater anglers in the state of Florida.
I love saltwater fishing for several reasons:
1) You get to be outside enjoying nature.
2) Crisp sea breezes and the smell of sea salt.
3) Every catch is a surprise, with so many fish in the ocean, you never really know what you are going to get.
4) The opportunity to unplug; fishing is an activity where you can often just relax.
