Microsoft is hiking Xbox Live Gold subscription costs, meaning you ll soon be paying more per month for your Gold membership. In addition to this announcement, Xbox also announced the Games With Gold lineup for February, and there are a couple of heavy hitters in there next month.
What does the Xbox Live Gold price hike mean?
In a news post on its official website, Microsoft pointed to changes in regional marketplaces as a reason for changing Xbox Live Gold pricing. According to Microsoft, the price of Xbox Live Gold hasn t changed for many years in some markets, so the company is updating pricing to reflect changes since then. New pricing will be as follows: 1-month subscriptions will set you back $10.99 a month, 3-month subscriptions will cost $29.99, and 6-month subs will cost $59.99. Naturally, these amounts will be converted to equivalents in your local currency. It s worth noting here that this won t affect the price of Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultima
Another month has passed by and with it comes a whole new list of free games players can snap up in Xbox’s Games With Gold program. It’s always a good opportunity to add some fun titles to your gaming library for the low price of zero, and February 2021’s lineup for Games With Gold is banking on the fact that players are excited for the spookiness Resident Evil Village promises to bring, among other solid options.
Xbox announced its February 2021 lineup for the Games With Gold lineup in a blog post on January 22, 2021. The official lineup of free games for Xbox Gold members for February 2021 and their timing of availability is as follows:

Microsoft has announced a price hike for Xbox Live Gold, increasing the price drastically on some membership plans.
An
Xbox Wire post highlighted some of the increased costs, citing a one month subscription to be increasing by $1USD and the three month to be jumping up by $5USD. Six months will see the biggest price increase from $39.99 to $59.99.

Eurogamer has reportedly been told the UK equivalent from a Microsoft representative, which sees one month increasing from £6.99 to £7.99, three months jumping from £17.99 to £21.99, and finally the six month seeing a movement from £29.99 to £42.99.

Microsoft has announced Februaryâs Games With Gold, bringing five titles instead of the usual four.
Resident Evil, which is also available on the same dates, and
Lost Planet 2, available between February 16-28.
Joining the three games will also be
Indiana Jones And The Emperorâs Tomb from the original Xbox between February 1-15, along with
Dandara on February 16-28.
