âIf the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice, to what better principle can the friends of mankind apply than to the sense of this difference?â âJohn Adams (1775)
âAfter viewing the video of Mr. Floydâs death, I didnât need to see any additional body-camera recordings to determine his death was negligent. He was handcuffed, there were three other officers present, and additional officers were on the way. Though Floyd was taken down after resisting arrest and becoming belligerent, once on the ground he appeared compliant, posed little further threat to the officers or bystanders, and indicated he was distressed and having trouble breathing.â
One of the most challenging assignments I have taken on was the life and death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.
It was challenging first because, as a former law enforcement officer myself, assaults on police officers are personal â membership in the Blue fraternity does not expire. Brian Sicknick was an exemplary LEO and a Patriot.
It was challenging because Brian died a day after the disgraceful Capitol riot, or as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would have called it in any other venue, a âpeaceful protest.â I was, and remain,
very angry about images of confrontations that day between Capitol Police and self-centered anarchists â a minute fringe element of self-proclaimed Donald Trump supporters whom neither Trump nor any genuine conservative would claim as fellow Patriots.
At the moment, our national debt exceeds $28 TRILLION â about 80% held as public debt and the rest as intragovernmental debt. That is $225,000 per taxpayer. Federal annual spending this year is almost $8 trillion, and more than half of that is deficit spending â piling on the national debt.
If that sounds like a big number, it isnât the real number. Fact is, the total debt, including unfunded debt (Medicare, Medicaid, pensions, and the 600-pound Social Security gorilla), is estimated at more than $132 TRILLION, or about $850,000 per taxpayer.
Now do you feel better about the mere $28 trillion national debt?
For the record, the last time U.S. debt was completely paid up was in 1835, when President Andrew Jackson insisted the entire debt be paid. Joe Biden has promised to get Jackson off the $20 bill and replace him with Harriet Tubman, one of my personal historic heroes. I would suggest replacing the pennyâs embossment of that racist Abe Lincoln with Jacksonâ
âThe ultimate authority ⦠resides in the people alone. ⦠The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation ⦠forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than anyâ¦â âJames Madison (1788)
Ironically, he rolled out the latest round of leftist gun control measures just ahead of our Patriotsâ Day commemoration of the battle of Lexington and Concord â a case study of consequences when tyrannical governments attempt to disarm the people. This effort was, of course, met with defiance. The result? The rise of American Liberty and the birth of a new nation.
