New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday withdrew its plea seeking an injunction against the proposed tractor rally on January 26 by farmers protesting against the contentious farms laws after the Supreme Court said “it is a police matter”.
The police has the “authority” to deal with the issue pertaining to the proposed tractor march in Delhi on the Republic Day, said a bench comprising Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian.
At the last hearing on January 18, the apex court had told the Central government that the proposed tractor rally on the Republic Day by agitating farmers was a “law and order” issue.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday left it to the Delhi police to decide on the entry of protesting farmers into the national capital on Republic Day, as it heard the government’s plea seeking an injunction against the tractor rally planned for January 26.
A bench headed by CJI SA Bobde may also take up the matter of Bhupinder Singh Mann’s recusal from the four-member committee set up to resolve the impasse.
