Farmer Unions Planning Massive Protests For Republic Day:- The farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are protesting at the border of the national capital New Delhi from the past two months. The Farmer Unions have been holding talks with the Centre and the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar but the talks failed as the farmers are not ready to compromise on their stand and they want the three introduced farm laws to be scrapped. The farmer unions started holding tractor rallies in the villages of Punjab to mobilize the people for the planned tractor parade that will take place on Republic Day if the next set of talks fail.

Indian Farmers Warn Of Protesting Till May 2024:- The Indian farmers have been protesting against the Centre and the introduced three farm laws. Nine rounds of talks took place between the Indian government and the Farmer Unions but the results are not satisfactory. Ahead of the tenth round of talks that are scheduled to take place on January 19th, the farmers warned to continue their protest till the issue is solved. Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Agriculture Minister urged the farmers to give up their stand and come for a discussion based on the clauses. But the farmers decided to stand on their demand to shelve all the introduced farm laws.

Bhupinder Singh Mann, one of the panel members appointed by the Supreme Court to resolve the deadlock on the new farm laws, recused himself from the committee on Thursday. He said that he would always stand with the farmers and Punjab.
“As a farmer myself and a union leader, in view of the prevailing sentiments and apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general, I am ready to sacrifice any position offered or given to me so as to not compromise the interests of Punjab and farmers of the country,” he said in a statement, tweeted by the Bharatiya Kisan Union, one of the main farmer bodies involved in the protests.

Supreme Court Implements a Stay on the Three Farm Laws:- The Indian farmers are protesting indefinitely against the newly introduced three farm laws that are passed in the Parliament last year. The protests of the farmers crossed 40 days at the borders of the national capital New Delhi. Seven rounds of talks took place between the Centre and the Farmer Unions but a possible resolution was never found. The farmers warned of intensifying the protests in the coming weeks. A series of petitions are filed in the Supreme Court and the top court responded about the issue.
