NEW DELHI: Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat on Wednesday said that China is capable of launching cyber attacks against India and that there is a capability gap between the two countries when it comes to technology.
In an address at the Vivekananda International Foundation, he also said that India s leadership displayed political will and determination to uphold vital national interests in the face of unprovoked assault on its security and dignity, remarks seen as an apparent reference to the border row with China in eastern Ladakh.

NEW DELHI: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat dispelled apprehensions on Wednesday that the creation of theatre commands to increase the synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force would lead to one service usurping the other two as he described such concerns as a misnomer .
In an address at the Vivekananda International Foundation, he said the three service chiefs had given in writing to the government around two years ago that they wanted an integrated system to come in.
The CDS said integration and jointness among the three services are important for the country to face future security challenges.

New Delhi, April 7 : China can disrupt systems by launching cyber attacks on India and a mechanism is being readied to combat any such move, Chief of Defence Staff(CDS), General Bipin Rawat, said at an event here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Vivekananda International Foundation on shaping the armed forces to meet the likely current and future challenges, General Rawat said, We may not be able to fully catch up with China. So we are trying to develop some kind of a relationship with the western nations and see how better we can get some support from them, during peace time at least, which will help us overcome this deficiency.

In a significant move, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat wants the forces to completely shed the ‘colonial era syndrome’.
Speaking at the Vivekananda International Foundation, General Rawat sought to highlight how a changed global environment demands a change in outlook and policies.
General Rawat was speaking on the theme ‘shaping the armed forces to meet likely current and future challenges’.
“We cannot fight the next war premised on the experiences and structures of the past wars,” said the CDS. The key stone to the way forward is jointness, integration, and modernisation in line with the changing security environment and utmost optimisation of resources.
