Student-Residents Must Get COVID Vaccine At Oakland University
Oakland University in Rochester Michigan announced on their website that they are making COVID-19 vaccines mandatory this fall for every student resident, which includes students living on campus in residence halls, apartments, and cottages.
The announcement says that any students living in campus housing must be vaccinated before fall move-in which starts Friday, August 27th. They do say that there will be exceptions made for people with a medical or religious exemption.
The school is feeling pretty confident in asking their students to be vaccinated as they have been working to make COVID-19 vaccines widely available around campus starting this Wednesday. They hope to be able to have most of the student and faculty population vaccinated before the end of the current spring semester and most definitely before school starts again in the fall.
Battle Creek Man Arrested for Sexual Assault
A 22-year-old Pennfield resident faces charges after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s apartment on Tuesday night and sexually assaulting her. Calhoun County Deputies were called to an apartment in the 100 block of Hopkins Street in Pennfield township around 8 p.m. after reports of an attempted sexual assault against a 33-year-old woman. The victim told police she was assaulted by a man as she was unlocking the door to her apartment. She identified her attacker as a 22-year-old man who lived nearby and said he forced her inside her apartment where he attempted to sexually assault her.

The City of Grand Rapids is looking for help naming its new autonomous, GPS-enabled, turf-painting robot, designed to paint precise athletic field lines in less time and using less paint than traditional methods.

According to a release, the City of GR expects the new bot to save the park maintenance department about $5,000 in annual labor and material costs. They say workers will be able to focus on other on other tasks, like cleaning restrooms and removing litter, while the bot does its thing.
