MADISON Gov. Tony Evers has assumed the “CYA” position following the debacle that has been his administration’s distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.
While the Democrat is feverishly attempting to blame the Trump administration, legislative Republicans, pharmacies and anyone else he can scapegoat, this fiasco is all on the governor.
Go back one month ago, when Evers dismissed any notion of legislative oversight of COVID-19 relief spending and vaccine distribution. Such a check on his executive authority would be cumbersome and time-consuming, he told the press gaggle. He eschewed any help.
“Clearly, if you think about over 100 people in the Capitol figuring out who gets the vaccine first or second and so on, that doesn’t even pass the smell test,” the governor said at the time.
MADISON Gov.
Tony Evers today announced the Wisconsin National Guard administered their one millionth COVID-19 test this week, representing a significant milestone in the state’s effort to offer regular, widespread testing statewide.
“This milestone further exemplifies the absolutely vital role the Wisconsin National Guard has played in our state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gov. Evers. “This has been the longest activation of the Guard in state history and yet day in and day out the Guard answers the call to help their neighbors and communities. Whether through testing, working at the polls on election day, helping local governments, or assisting in our vaccine distribution program, we greatly appreciate their service and dedication to our state.”

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) The Wisconsin National Guard is assisting with the state s first COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
According to a news release, approximately 20 troops are helping manage vaccine inventory at undisclosed sites across the state.
Those troops are serving in a support role in coordination with other state partners and agencies helping to roll out the vaccine – including the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Wisconsin Emergency Management, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and others, as the state seeks to vaccinate frontline healthcare workers.
The news release says the National Guard troops represent a small, but critical element of the effort, as they assist in handling the inventory of the initial supply of vaccines and preparing them for delivery to facilities that need them.
