GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) â Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce is having a mixed reaction to Governor Tony Evers signing of the GOP-authored state budget, which includes a large tax cut.
WMC Vice President Nick Novak says the Governor doesnât deserve the credit.
âThe Governor touted the tax relief,â Novak told WTAQ. âBut itâs important to remember that his initial proposal increased taxes by over a billion dollars and increased spending by over 10%.â
Novak also criticized Evers for vetoing a part of the budget that would have repealed the stateâs personal property tax.
âThatâs a tax that costs about $200 million a year for businesses in addition to the expensive compliance costs,â said Novak. âWe hope that Governor Evers will reconsider.â
