It was one of several awards earned by our dedicated journalists for our work in 2020. Like so many front line workers, the WKBT team found a way to pull together and rise to the challenges that came with working during a pandemic. “Local news coverage was a lifeline for many people as we came together to keep each other safe in unprecedented times,” said News Director Anne Paape. “The News 8 Now team always finds a way to rise to a challenge and stay focused on telling the stories of what’s happening in our communities.”

Along with being recognized as the large market Station of The Year and News Operation of The Year, WISN 12 has received an additional 10 first-place awards, 10 second-place awards and 5 third-place awards. This year marks the 6th year out of 7 previous years, when WISN 12 has been acknowledged with the Station of The Year award. From an unprecedented pandemic to social justice and mass shootings, there were numerous stories that had a huge impact on our community this past year, said Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12.
