May 18—An additional 17 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Tuesday, May 18. They were reported as follows: eight in Douglas County; three in Sawyer County ; two in each Burnett and Iron counties; and one in each Price and Washburn counties. No new cases were reported in Ashland, Bayfield, Rusk and Taylor counties. .

Kenosha County Public Heath is reporting 15,746 total positive COVID-19 test results in Kenosha County as of Tuesday. That’s 21 more than Monday. There have been 306 COVID-19 deaths in Kenosha County, one more than Monday. Kenosha County Public Health is reporting 79,297 negative test results.
Wisconsin Department of Health Services is reporting a positive rate of 9,369/100,000 people and a 2.0 percent case fatality rate in Kenosha County as of Tuesday.
In Kenosha County, 40.34 percent of the population has had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 35.17 percent are fully vaccinated as of Tuesday, reports Kenosha County Public Health.

CRANDON, WI (WSAU-WXPR) When the opioid epidemic started a few years ago, Forest County was hit hard.
From 2011 to 2016, the number of opioid-related hospital encounters for young adults increased by 750 percent, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The community decided to do something about that.
Four years ago, the Forest County Potawatomi and Sokaogon Chippewa Community came together for the first “Walk for Recovery” to support those suffering from addiction and to raise awareness for the fight against opioids. Since then, the walk has become a yearly tradition.
Wisconsin COVID cases up 383, 5 new deaths: State officials

MADISON, Wis. - The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin increased by 383 Wednesday, May 19, for a total of 607,138, state health officials reported.
There have been 6,976 deaths in the state, with five new deaths reported Wednesday.
Among those who have tested positive for COVID-19, 30,416 people have been hospitalized (5%) and 593,187 people have recovered (97.7%). There are 6,709 active cases in the state (1.1%).
More than 2.9 million have tested negative.
More than 3.5 million have been tested.
