Wisconsinâs statewide mask mandate is likely to be overturned after the Republican-controlled Assembly votes on it today. Even if that happens, the City of Racineâs local mask mandate will remain in place.
The statewide mask mandate requires face coverings to be worn âwhenever you are indoors or in an enclosed space, other than a private residence, and other people are present in the same room or enclosed space,â according to Gov. Tony Eversâ office. Racineâs mask mandate, codified in ordinance by a majority of the City Council in July, follows essentially that same rule.

COVID-19 vaccinations will now be scheduled
CRAWFORD COUNTY - Last week marked a significant turning point for Crawford County in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Crawford County Public Health Department was able to conduct their first vaccine clinic for unaffiliated health care providers and some first responders.
“I am just about giddy with relief,” Crawford County Public Health Director Cindy Riniker said. “I finally have a sense that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
Prairie Maison and Soldiers Grove Health Services employees and residents also received the vaccine last week, insuring that some of the most vulnerable county residents have begun the process to be protected.

Health officials also reported 16 news deaths bringing the death total to 6,140 in Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health website, 6,467,868 tests have been completed to date.
There are 442,600 patients who no longer require isolation.
So far, 24,126 patients have required hospitalization and 5,015 cases have been hospitalized in ICU.

Bayfield: 1,028 – 18 deaths

Iron: 470 – 19 deaths
Gogebic: 829 – 17 deaths
As of Thursday morning, Wisconsin health officials reported 536,546 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also reported 5,787 deaths.
Douglas County reported 19 cases.

An additional 51 Northwestern Wisconsin residents tested positive for COVID-19, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Thursday, Jan. 28.
The new cases were reported as follows: 19 in Douglas County; eight in Price County; six in Sawyer County; five in Washburn County; four each in Ashland and Bayfield counties; three in Rusk County; and two in Taylor County. No new cases were reported in Burnett and Iron counties.
