By Madalyn O Neill Jan 21, 2021 8:33 PM BARABOO, Wis. – Getting the COVID-19 vaccine everywhere it needs to go is a big task, but a new program is underway bringing resources to all pockets of Wisconsin. On Tuesday, the State’s mobile vaccination program launched in an effort to accelerate vaccine distribution and expand access. It’s a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Wisconsin National Guard, with collaboration from local health departments, as well as nursing and pharmacy students. WING Major Joe Trovato said 36 Guard soldiers and airmen are part of nine mobile vaccination teams, answering the call of local health departments and heading wherever needed.

Assisted living facility worries they re falling through the cracks of vaccine rollout

As Wisconsin moves forward with vaccines for group 1B, some people in the 1A category are worried they may fall through the cracks for vaccination. Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinOperators at Cecelia Place, an assisted living facility in Pewaukee, said their pharmacy still has not received the vaccine. We are ready to go, the forms are filled out, we are just waiting to get a call from them that their supply is in, said Tina Niemeyer, community relations director for Cecelia Place. According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the federal government contracted CVS and Walgreens as the two main pharmacies to offer vaccination services for places like nursing homes and assisted living facilities.On Thursday, a DHS spokesperson told WISN 12 small pharmacies can, and have, enrolled as vaccinators too.
