MADISON (WKOW) The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported a new single-day record for COVID-19 deaths.
The state updated itswebpage on COVID-19 death statisticsTuesday and listed 120 more lives added to the total of those who have died due to the disease.
The average number of COVID-19 deaths in the state reported each day has been on the rise for the past week.
The Atlantic s COVID Tracking Project reported Monday that deaths attributed to the disease were rising in 19 states, including Wisconsin. On average, over 2,600 deaths due to COVID-19 are reported nationwide every day.
Dane County added 27 new deaths attributed to the disease toan online data dashboardthat tracks COVID-19 s impact in the county. Public health staff report the deaths based on death certificate records that they analyze every week.
DHS now providing free, at-home COVID-19 testing kits

MADISON, Wis. Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Tuesday that at-home COVID-19 saliva collection testing kits will be available to all Wisconsin residents for free, regardless of presence of symptoms.
The at-home test kits will be provided by Vault Medical Services thanks to a new contract with the state.
“We believe that anyone in Wisconsin who needs to be tested for COVID-19 should have access to a test, and I’m proud of our statewide testing efforts throughout this pandemic,” Evers said. “We also know that getting to a health care provider or a community testing site isn’t easy for everyone, and that’s why we are excited to offer this new option to make testing even more accessible for folks across our state.”

The Green Bay Packers and Brown County United Way have awarded several Wisconsin middle school student groups with Character Playbook Community Impact Grants to help develop service projects that directly impact their school, neighborhood or community.
Student groups, under the guidance of a Wisconsin school or nonprofit organization, were invited to develop a service project that would help their school, neighborhood or surrounding community and submit a proposal for the project. The pool of applicants had the opportunity to present the group s project idea to select Green Bay Packers, Character Playbook and Brown County United Way representatives
