Earlier this month, a federal judge ruled that the Wisconsin Department of Corrections cannot deny transgender surgery to a man convicted of raping his 10-year-old daughter. The ruling also means Wisconsin will put the man in a women’s prison.
U.S. District Judge James Peterson approved the request of Mark Allen Campbell, a 49-year-old Wisconsin man who identifies as female and goes by the name “Nicole Rose,” to undergo transgender surgery at taxpayer expense, the
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Campbell has identified as female since 2013, when he first requested the operation.

Clifford W. Husbye, 41, of the 400 block of Main Street, Wauconda, is accused of having a warrant for driving under the influence, and was arrested Dec. 21 Wauconda. His bond was set at $20,000, and he was assigned a court date of Jan. 15, 2021.

RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) A Tomahawk man has been accused of driving while high with a two-year-old child in the vehicle.
Highway patrol officers say 35-year-old Scott D Stevens was pulled over Saturday evening for an equipment violation along Highway 51 near Rib Mountain Drive. While interacting with Stevens, officers observed a strong smell of marijuana. When confronted, Stevens admitted to smoking while driving.
He then failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of first-offense OWI with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. Other charges against him include possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on an order to detain given by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
DOC converting Prairie du Chien prison to minimum security
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN - The Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) is converting Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution (PDCI) from a medium-security to minimum-security institution.
The move aligns with the DOC’s priority of expanding opportunities in evidence-based community programs, while also lowering the number of individuals on the DOC’s wait list to get into a minimum-security facility.
Roughly 75 percent of the 500 currently incarcerated at PDCI are already classified as minimum custody. Converting PDCI to a minimum-security facility will require moving individuals at PDCI classified as medium custody to other medium-security institutions, and moving in individuals classified as minimum custody who are currently housed in medium-security institutions. This would expand PDCI’s current project crew and provide a larger number of people in DOC care the opportunity to participate in work relea
