WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. - A drug-addicted nurse is caught stealing pain pills meant for patients first in Beloit, then in Williams Bay. Nearly four years later, we found her still working (and still fully licensed) at a nursing home in Janesville. Now, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) is proposing changes because of what the FOX6 Investigators uncovered. For nearly a year, health care workers across the state have been greeted at work by signs that remind them they are the heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic. They risk their lives to treat patients infected with a potentially deadly virus. The National Practitioner Data Bank withdrew Van Zandt’s adverse report about Michael Knitter, currently a board certified anesthesiologist in Chippewa Falls, Wisc., after Van Zandt conducted a second review of the matter and determined the issues involved didn’t rise to a level that justified forwarding them to the data bank. (CBS 58) Steven Brandenburg, the pharmacist accused of intentionally tampering with nearly 60 vials of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at a Grafton hospital, has had his license suspended. According to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, Brandenburg is currently not eligible to practice. Brandenburg was fired from Advocate Aurora Hospital after admitting to intentionally removing more than 500 doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine from refrigeration.  He was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, altering a prescription drug and criminal damage to property. Brandenburg made his first court appearance on Jan. 4.
