Three years ago, Wisconsin Republicans who ran the Capitol and President Donald Trump gave Foxconn the coveted “franchise player” label, saying the electronics giant could get $3 billion from taxpayers if it hit jaw-dropping numbers of $10 billion invested and 13,000 workers hired. Last week, Foxconn fell to “player to be named later” status when the administration of Democratic Gov. Tony Eversdrastically revised the deal downward, promising up to $80 million if the company hit new reality-based performance numbers: $672 million invested and 1,454 workers hired.

Eggers Division expansion to create jobs in Neenah, Two Rivers

Door and countertop manufacturer Eggers Division LLC announced the $16 million project in a press release Monday. Eggers’ parent company, Iowa-based VT Industries Inc., is moving some of its business from Texas to Wisconsin, prompting the expansion in Neenah and growth in Two Rivers. Eggers will add 45,000 square feet to its plant at 164 N. Lake St. in Neenah to house a new production line, receiving area and warehouse space. The company also plans to renovate an older portion of the facility as employee spaces including a lunchroom, locker room, restrooms, conference rooms, first-aid room and offices for operations. An older part of the facility will be demolished to enhance the entrance for trucks heading to the receiving docks.
