Wis Firm Sues Foxconn Over Breach of Contract

Feb 4th, 2021 iStock MILWAUKEE (AP) Worldwide electronics leader Foxconn Technology Group violated terms of its contract in Wisconsin, while local governments spend hundreds of millions of dollars to prepare for the project, a lawsuit filed by a real estate development company alleges. Hintz Real Estate Development Co. claims that Foxconn is in breach of its contract by failing to construct a Generation 10.5 LCD manufacturing facility in southeast Wisconsin not far from the Illinois border, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Wednesday. Foxconn did not employ local workers in manufacturing and construction “to the extent agreed,” and failed to make capital investments in the county and village “to the extent agreed, the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court said.

Brown County Purchase of Power Plant Site Aims to Build Port, Remove Coal Piles

By Casey Nelson Jan 5, 2021 1:30 PM GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The day after Brown County received a $500,000 idle site grant from the state, the county announced plans to purchase the former Pulliam power plant property along the Fox River. The plans are to turn that property into a working port. “This site has been identified through our strategic plans, back as early as 2010, as a vital asset for not just the Greater Green Bay area and Brown County, but northeast Wisconsin’s economy,” said County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “Brown County and the Port of Green Bay was very interested in this site, primarily for the purpose of growth and protecting our industries that serve northeast Wisconsin’s economy…Our interest of course was in port growth. Preserving the water access for the working river that it always has been, recognizing that our strength here in Brown County is dependent upon the northeast Wisconsin economy growing.”

State Clears Unemployment Claims Backlog

The state has cleared its backlog of unemployment claims though the feat does not include claims for additional pandemic assistance. “Since the start of the pandemic, our top priority at DWD has been ensuring that all eligible unemployment claims in Wisconsin are paid as quickly as possible,” Pechacek said in a statement. “Today, I am proud to say we have reached our goal to clear the backlog of claims. The tireless work of DWD staff has made it possible for UI to resume its seasonal level of timeliness in January.”
