Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School evacuated after Monday bomb threat

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The person responsible for a bomb threat Monday afternoon at Lincoln High School has been identified and admitted Tuesday to issuing the threat, said principal Ronald Rasmussen. An investigation by law enforcement also found the individual did not have the means to carry out the threat, Rasmussen said. Legal and school consequences are pending. At around 1:25 p.m. Monday, a student reported to high school administration that they observed a nonspecific bomb threat directed at the high school, Rasmussen said. The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department was contacted and all students and staff were evacuated to the South Wood County Recreation Center.

Police: One person dead after walking into a train

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department and Canadian National Railroad Police are investigating an fatal incident on Monday. According to a press release from WRPD, they were called to the scene of the incident at the railroad crossing on Chase Street and Riverview Expressway around 4 pm Monday. The incident was described as train-versus-pedestrian, wherein the pedestrian had walked into a train. It is not clear if the incident was purposeful or on accident. The victim, only identified right now as a man, was declared dead at the scene. WRPD says, though the incident happened in Wisconsin Rapids, the investigation is being headed by Canadian National Railroad Police because it happened on the tracks.
