Lidl has launched a new initiative to provide free sanitary products women affected by period poverty.
The initiative, which was created in collaboration with Homeless Period Ireland and the Simon Community, will allow shoppers to get a free box of sanitary pads or tampons every month through the Lidl app.
The Simon Community will also receive products free-of-charge to supply people who do not have access to a smartphone.

Retailer Lidl Ireland says it is to offer free period products in its stores nationwide to women and girls affected by period poverty.
This is being done in partnership with Homeless Period Ireland and The Simon Communities.
It means people will be able to claim a dedicated coupon for a free box of sanitary pads or tampons per customer each month through the Lidl Plus app.
Starting April 19th, Lidl says those looking to get urgent access to period products can download the app and sign up.
They will receive a free monthly coupon starting on May 3rd, and then ongoing on a monthly basis.
