Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the newest Republican member of the House Education and Labor Committee, has scrubbed posts calling for violence against Democrats and pushing conspiracy theories from her Facebook page amid a push to expel her from Congress.
Greene, a longtime QAnon conspiracy theorist, removed dozens of Facebook posts from 2018 and 2019 after CNN and Media Matters flagged numerous videos, posts, comments and likes seemingly endorsing the assassination of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and FBI agents who investigated former President Donald Trump, according to CNN. Gaetz Targets Cheney Over Impeachment Vote at Rally in Her Home State
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) called for voters to vote Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) out of office during a rally in Wyoming on Thursday.
“In a lot of ways, Liz Cheney is exactly like Congress: deeply unpopular and owned by special interests,” Gaetz told a crowd of hundreds during a rally in Cheyenne.
Cheney has faced strong pushback after joining Democrats to impeach then-President Donald Trump earlier this month. She took the caucus by surprise when she announced her decision because she didn’t reveal what she was planning with Republican leadership, according to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
As two concerned leaders who represent these very communities, we’re raising the alarm about President Biden’s heavy-handed and job-killing executive actions. One of us, Rep. Yvette Herrell, R-N.M., represents southern New Mexico, where clean and safe energy development in the Permian Basin provides more than $1 billion a year to fund public education.
The other, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., represents southeastern Louisiana, where offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is the lifeblood of coastal communities and funds hundreds of millions of dollars in coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects.
Our friends and neighbors rely upon these jobs to pay rent, put food on the table, and keep the lights on. The Biden administration is attacking their livelihoods and jeopardizing America’s energy security.
