McCarthy: Cash Payments to Central America Insults Millions of Jobless Americans
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy said Friday that President Joe Biden’s plans to send cash to Central American countries is an insult to the millions of unemployed Americans.
Southern border coordinator for the White House Roberta Jacobson first told Reuters last week that the Biden administration is considering the plans as part of a move to alleviate the economic problems that motivate people from Central America to leave for the United States.
Jacobson didn’t specify which entity would be potentially obtaining the cash but the payments in consideration are aimed at people from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, which make up for the vast majority of illegal immigration presently occurring at the southern border.

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. – Former House Speaker John Boehner, once the nation s highest-ranking Republican, told USA TODAY that embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz should resign if he is indicted.
If the Florida congressman refuses, Boehner said, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy should move to expel him from the House. When a member gets in trouble, it splashes back on all the members, Boehner said in an interview about his memoir, On the House, which is being published Tuesday by St. Martin s Press. Members are innocent until proven guilty, he said, but then repeated the policy he followed during eight years as the leader of House Republicans: If there s an indictment, that was a clear line members were going to step down.
