The U.S. House reconvened at 9 p.m. Wednesday, about eight hours after rioters began grappling with police on the Capitol steps.
They breeched the building to interrupt the proceedings underway to finalize Democrat Joe Biden s victory over Republican President Donald Trump.
Republicans, including some from Minnesota, still objected to the vote totals before the election was finalized.
U.S. Reps. Michelle Fischbach and Jim Hagedorn, of western and southern Minnesota respectively, objected with 119 other Republicans to the election results in Arizona, according to the clerk s record.
A group of 21 senators from Pennsylvania called on Republican leaders of the U.S. House and Senate to delay certification of the Electoral College votes.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted his gratitude to the Capitol Police for “protecting the People’s House” Wednesday and urged attendees at the March to Save America to remain “peaceful.”

Protesters broke through police barricades at the U.S. Capitol on the day Congress is to vote on certifying the Electoral College of the 2020 presidential election.
