Reps. Jim Banks (R., Ind.) and Chip Roy (R., Texas), along with 15 other House Republicans, drafted a letter Tuesday to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) calling for Rep. Eric Swalwell’s (D., Calif.) removal from the House Intelligence Committee due to his ties to a suspected Chinese spy.
The letter details both the compromised nature of Swalwell’s position given his personal relationship with alleged Chinese spy Fang Fang in addition to the double standard from congressional Democrats regarding foreign interference in American politics.

A group of House Republicans called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to remove Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee following a report that he was targeted by a suspected Chinese spy in a years-long political intelligence operation.
The letter, signed by top Republicans in the House, said:
Because of Rep. Swalwell’s position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, his close interactions with Chinese intelligence services, however unintentional they may be, are an unacceptable national security risk. HPSCI handles some of the most sensitive information our government possesses information critical to our national defense. As such, we urge you to immediately remove Rep. Swalwell from his position on the House Intelligence Committee.
McConnell Recognizes Biden Victory. Will the Rest of the GOP Go Along?
Mitch McConnell’s comments are particularly significant as several Republicans still refuse to acknowledge Biden’s win even after the Electoral College officially certified the election results on Monday.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) congratulated President-elect Joe Biden for his White House win on the Senate floor on Tuesday, ending a nearly six-week stretch of ignoring the victory and reality of the election results.
“The Electoral College has spoken, so today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden. The president-elect is no stranger to the Senate. He s devoted himself to public service for many years,” McConnell said.
Sen. Cotton Calls on Swalwell to Explain Ties to Suspected Chinese Spy
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on Dec. 16 called on Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) to hold a press conference to explain his relationship with a suspected Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spy.
A report by Axios on Dec. 7 claimed that the alleged CCP spy, known as Fang Fang or Christine Fang, built up an extensive network of contacts with up-and-coming politicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Swalwell. The report said Swalwell cut ties with her after investigators gave him a “defensive briefing,” and that he provided information about her to the FBI.
