A growing number of top Republicans are urging GOP supporters to get vaccinated as the delta coronavirus variant surges across the United States, marking a notable shift away from the anti-vaccine conspiracy theorizing that has gripped much of the party in opposition to the Biden administration’s efforts to combat the virus.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was part of the rising chorus on Tuesday, stressing the need for unvaccinated Americans to receive coronavirus shots and warning that the country could reverse its progress in moving on from the pandemic.

Troye: Jim Jordan on 1/6 Commission Akin to Bin Laden Lieutenant on 9/11 Commission

Former advisor to Vice President Mike Pence Olivia Troye said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appointing Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol riots was akin to putting Osama Bin Laden’s lieutenant to investigate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Troy said, “We still don’t have a step-by-step factual account of how this came to be, what led to it, what happened, what were the failures, who was involved. That’s what this committee is going to try to get to. But the last person that needs to be sitting on this committee is Jim Jordan.”
Republicans name Trump defenders to House committee on January 6 coup
On Monday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy named five Republicans who voted against the impeachment of Donald Trump one week after the attempted coup of January 6 to join eight members chosen by the Democrats for a select committee charged with investigating the storming of the US Capitol.
The Democratic-controlled committee is scheduled to hold its first hearing on July 27. In line with the Democrats’ efforts to attack the Republicans as “anti-police,” they have selected as the first witnesses four police officers who were attacked by the pro-Trump mob that invaded the Capitol.
