Kevin McCarthy (R- CA) for decrying the House bringing back a mask mandate.
McCarthy took to the House floor opposing the mask mandate after Speaker
Minutes after McCarthy spoke on the House floor, Ryan delivered some brief remarks exasperatedly saying, “The attending physician of the United States Capitol, the top doctor for Congress, asked us to put on masks when we come to a chamber with 435 people.”
He held up a mask and said he hates wearing them, but they do it “because the top doctor for all of us asked us to.”
“I may not be from a hot spot,” Ryan argued. “Somebody in this chamber is coming from a hot spot! Somebody represents the hot spots! And they get on a plane and they fly here and they interact with all of us. And then we leave here and we go home to our families! Some take care of their sick parents. Some take care of kids who may have an autoimmune disorder. And I just find it absolutely immature and appalling to somehow diminish it to try to score c
I Think After? Reporter Grills Jim Jordan On When He Spoke To Trump On Jan. 6
The Ohio Republican said he wasn t sure if he d spoken to Trump before, during or after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said Wednesday that he spoke to former President Donald Trump on Jan. 6 but wasn’t sure if he did so before, during or after Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol.
Jordan admitted on Tuesday, albeit vaguely, that he spoke to Trump that day, increasing the likelihood that he could be called to testify in the congressional inquiry into the events of Jan. 6.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), in a fiery speech on the House floor on Wednesday, dismantled the House mask mandate and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) reversion to previous restrictions, reiterating that the guidance is based, in part, on research in India on a vaccine not even approved by the United States.
“I just left speaking with Dr. Monahan from the House. He said he used the CDC recommendation on a report that hasn’t been printed yet,” McCarthy said, referencing the attending physician’s decision to recommend congressional members and staff wear “well-fitted” super masks while inside if “other individuals are present.”

House Republicans who were slated to be on the select committee to probe the January 6 insurrection held a news conference Tuesday morning to complain they are being shut out from the probe.
But the fact that there are no allies of former President Donald Trump on the committee was a choice made by the GOP. It was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who decided to pull all of his members from the investigative panel. It s with great disappointment today that I don t get to question my friend Harry Dunn, Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), one of McCarthy s picks for the committee, said at the news conference, referring to a law enforcement officer who is testifying about the Jan. 6 events at the committee s first hearing on Tuesday. We don t get to ask the questions that will lead to why there was not a better security posture here on the Capitol complex.

On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a new mask guideline for students, teachers, and staff in K-12 to wear masks regardless of vaccination status, as well as in certain indoor settings, again, also regardless of vaccination status. The move was met with swift criticism, especially and including from former President Donald Trump. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), though, takes issue with the data used to justify the new guidelines.
The study that influenced this decision? It followed healthcare workers who were vaccinated with a vaccine NOT EVEN APPROVED IN THE U.S.
