A Salisbury man who federal prosecutors say is responsible for a string of bank robberies in Maryland and Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison.
A news release shows Fletcher Dorsett, 53, of Salisbury committed nine bank robberies and attempted robberies in 2019 while he was supposed to be at a halfway house after his release following a previous federal bank robbery conviction.
Dorsett had been sentenced to eight years for that prior conviction and was placed in a halfway house in May 2019. Prosecutors said he was put on escape status because he did not return on July 25, 2019.
