Van Demings, D-Orlando, who serves the 10th Congressional District. She will speak on the current challenges in Florida and America and the necessary actions that need to be undertaken. Born in Jacksonville, Demings worked as a social worker, then joined the Orlando Police Department. Over a 27-year career, she served in many roles, including commander of the Airport Division during Sept. 11, commander of special operations, member of the Crisis Negotiation Team, commander of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team and executive vice president of the International Association of Airport and Seaport Police.
