My West Richland Yard Suddenly Has Gophers
From the WTF Department , I ve lived in this house for almost a decade and gophers suddenly show up? My wife did a little research and ran across a post where someone else was talking about how gophers are moving around in West Richland due to all the new construction taking their fields away. But our neighborhood hasn t had any new construction nearby for quite a while, so I m wondering how far these little fellas traveled to settle in my yard.
Having grown up in Montana, I m well aware of gophers but they never ever invaded a grassy yard. I guess that s because they didn t need to with all the wide-open spaces. The Facebook group Tri-Cities Garden Girls has lots of suggestions on how to get rid of them before they destroy everything. Some of the suggestions use kill traps or poison, others prefer live traps, and some methods just force them to move on. I haven t decided what to do yet, but poison is out of the question to keep our dog

Orioles are brightly colored birds that migrate through Kansas each spring and fall and sometimes stay for the summer. Enthusiasts enjoy watching them at feeders and hearing their sweet songs and anxiously await the spring migration each year.
In the Lawrence area, oriole migration usually peaks in mid-May. To attract them to your yard, use fresh fruit, grape jelly and nectar (sugar water).
Orioles usually begin to arrive in the Lawrence area in the last week of April. Put out feeders now to attract them as they arrive throughout May. Many of the birds will stay for the summer if they find adequate food and nesting sites.

The National Association of Realtorsâ index of pending home sales increased 1.9% from the prior month to 111.3, according to data released Thursday. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists called for a 4.4% gain.
Severe winter weather limited housing activity in February and rising borrowing costs and skyrocketing property values have been pricing some buyers out of the market. Still, mortgage rates remain historically low, which could allow for more contract signings throughout the U.S. in the coming months.
Jay Leno Knocked on the Door of Seafair Newport and Bought It
Buying a home tends to be a long, drawn-out process between finding the perfect home, closing on the deal, and signing hundreds of documents. When you are a multi-millionaire, the process plays out a little differently.
Nighttime television host Jay Leno has owned his lavish, Newport, Rhode Island home since 2017. It’s not uncommon for celebrities to flock to the beautiful, seaside town in the Ocean State, but rarely do you hear of a celebrity just “popping in” to see if the house is for sale. Here’s the story of how Jay Leno and his wife, Mavis, became residents of Newport.
