The date marked the commitment of African countries to strengthen and consolidate political will for school feeding on the continent. Across Africa, one in two school children, or over 65 million children received a nutritious meal in school every day in 2019, a massive increase from 38.4 million in 2013. This was until the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in learning and ended a decade of growth for school meal programmes in 2020. 88 Monitors begin training for National Social Investment Programme in Gombe

Share A total of 88 independent monitors in Gombe state have begun training by Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development for the implementation of federal Government National Social Investment Programmes. The training was flagged off on Saturday by  the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq in Gombe.  The Minister said that the training was organized to enable the 88 participants engaged be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of the Social Investment Programme in the state to ensure that the objectives are achieved. Represented by the Chief Administration Officer of Ministry, Mr Silas Wuyah, the Minister said that the training was currently taking place across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Government of Canada contributes CAD 1 million to WFP to support the national school meal programme and boost local farming in Sri Lanka Format COLOMBO – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Sri Lanka welcome a funding of CAD 1 million (LKR 151 million) from Global Affairs Canada to help smallholder farmers cultivate nutritious crops for the National School Meal Programme. Responding to the impacts of Covid-19, the Home Grown School Feeding project will provide nutritious and safe school meals to vulnerable primary school children by linking the National School Meal Programme with local smallholder farmers. The project will benefit an estimated 1,700 female farmers and 170,000 children in several districts across the Northern, Eastern and North Central provinces.

He was a Military Administrator of Lagos State from December 1993 to August 1996. Nine years after leaving Lagos, he was sworn in as the elected governor of Osun State on May 29, 2003 and remained on the seat till November 26, 2010. He later became the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and later, Chairman of the National Identity Management Company (NIMC).
