The recent ash fall should not adversely affect Barbados’ hurricane season preparedness, says Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams.
Yesterday, during a press conference – held both in person and virtually – on the first day of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, he said the ash should not affect drainage because Government had been clearing drains and wells.
“The Government has been having a very extensive ash clean-up campaign – we’re not just removing the ash [from] the road but also inspecting wells to get any sediment out and we are flushing and cleaning all the drains – so we are very conscious of the ash.
