Crossing the Streams is our monthly look at all the offerings hitting the big streaming services each month, and this time we’re checking out the new Hulu arrivals for January 2021. This month’s titles are light on new movies, but they still include plenty of old favorites from Stephen King, the 90s, Mike Myers, and more!

Hulu Pick of the Month for January 2021

Perhaps it’s no coincidence that on-demand episodes of these shows are also absent from the Discovery+ catalog. That means you can’t watch some of Discovery’s most popular shows at all on Discovery+ right now, and come January 29, you’ll likely be limited to whatever episodes happen to be playing on their marathon channels. (As The Streamable has pointed out, some of those shows may be currently tied to Hulu, which made an exclusive deal to stream some Discovery content in 2018.)
To be clear, Discovery isn’t withholding all of its current cable shows from Discovery+ for example, I’m seeing new episodes of

While many video streaming services aim for specific audiences, Discovery Inc.’s discovery+ is far more ambitious. This new and inexpensive streaming platform offers a massive number of shows from traditional cable channels such as Animal Planet, Food Network, HGTV, OWN, TLC, Travel Channel, and many more. Its web interface and mobile devices are also well designed, but the service is missing a few features, such as offline downloads on mobile and parental control tools.
What Can I Watch on discovery+?
Discovery claims that discovery+ has 55,000 episodes from its various networks, and, while I did not count each entry individually, the sheer number of shows from each of the many channels on the service seems to track with this claim. Given the volume of titles available for streaming, we can’t cover them all here, but we explore some of the library highlights below.
