Feb 13, 2021 11:37:46 AM The government has blamed the current coronavirus pandemic for slowing down the progress of subdivision work in Davuilevu. The Minister for Housing Premila Kumar while speaking in parliament said the civil works on the project were expected to be completed in 2019 but has deferred to this year. Kumar said the current coronavirus pandemic situation has slowed down the progress of the subdivision work in Davuilevu. She said the scope of works based on the development design includes earthworks, road works, water supply pipelines, footpaths, driveways, and street lights. “The Housing Authority of Fiji obtained a development lease for 53.42 hectares of land in Davuilevu from the Methodist Church of Fiji in 2017.”

The Ministry of Housing and Community Development is trying to root out “dishonesty” through its proposed Lot Allocation Policy, said Housing Minister Premila Kumar at a consultation in Lautoka on Saturday.
She said the ministry developed the policy after seeing what had happened at the Housing Authority of Fiji. “We have seen a lot of dishonest people when it came to Housing Authority allocation of lots,” she said.
