Jamaica and Kenya sign MOU for Reciprocal Recognition of STCW Certificates for Seafarers by Nationals The Maritime Authority of Jamaica has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Kenya to enable reciprocal recognition of STCW certificates for seafarers for their nationals. On behalf of the Jamaican Government, MAJ Director General, Rear Admiral (ret’d) Peter Brady, signed the MOU during a ceremony conducted online due to pandemic restrictions. Nancy Karigithu, the Principal Secretary in the Kenyan State Department of Shipping and Maritime, signed on behalf of the Republic of Kenya, accompanied by Robert Njue, the newly-appointed Director General of the Kenya Maritime Authority.

Frankford residents in need of home repairs can apply for grants

Frankford residents who may benefit from a housing rehabilitation program are being encouraged to apply for Community Development Block Grant funding through Sussex County. Brad Whaley of the Sussex County Community Development Office, during a Dec. 7 presentation to the Frankford Town Council, said the funding, which comes to the county program through federal Housing & Urban Development funding that is allotted to the Delaware State Housing Authority. Most of the work approved in Frankford for CDBG funding is for small home-improvement projects, such as furnace repairs, access ramps and the like. In order to qualify for funding through CDBG, projects must serve households below 80 percent of the median income, Whaley said. Income guidelines for qualification for CDBG funding are:

LG reviews PMDP projects

Directs Administrative Secretaries to closely monitor execution of developmental projects, ensure no unnecessary delays JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today reviewed the progress of Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) projects in a high-level meeting here at Civil Secretariat. During the meeting, the Lt Governor sought a comprehensive report of the sector-wise implementation of 54 projects sanctioned under PMDP with an outlay of Rs 58,627 crores and reviewed the Financial and Physical progress achieved so far.
