PUTRAJAYA (Jan 7): The second phase of the Malaysian Population and Housing Census 2020 (Census 2020), involving face-to-face interviews, will be conducted from Jan 20 to Feb 6.
Census 2020 commissioner Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said it will be implemented in accordance with the Field Operations standard operating procedures (SOP) as issued by the National Security Council (NSC).
He said the Census 2020 Phase 2 implementation would also take into account the areas affected following the floods, and adjustments would be made according to the situation, to ensure that everyone is counted.
“The second phase pre-implementation stage, involving review activities on the field, listing of houses in selected areas and logistics preparations have already started,” he said in a statement today.

ISLAMABAD: The government has constituted a high-powered six-member committee under the chairmanship of Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, for recommendation and adoption of best practices for the upcoming population census with immediate effect. The next population census will become due after 10 years in 2027 as the last population census was held in 2017 in Pakistan.
According to an official notification issued here on Wednesday, the committee will comprise Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Mohammad Ahmed Zubair, Chief Economist, Mohammad Sarwar Gondal, Member Support Services, Dr GM Arif, independent researcher, Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin, independent researcher, and a representative of Nadra.

A delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly to visit the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan s (MQM-P) Bahadurabad headquarters in Karachi today (Thursday).
According to
Express News, the PTI had started reaching out to its disgruntled government ally after it [the MQM-P] recently expressed its displeasure, again, over the 6th population and housing census.
The PTI delegation is said to be represented by the ruling party s leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, its parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh among other members.
