So how are these three venues, all overseen by the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority, paying the bills while the world waits for life to return to normal?
The authority is relying on cost reductions including layoffs of about 70% of the people who normally work such events plus some unusual shows to keep its books close to being in the black. It s sort of going business as usual, but we don t have any business, Jeffrey Hirsh, treasurer of the Convention Center Authority board, told The Providence Journal. We re paying our bills with the money the state pays us to rent the facility.

At the end of this tour’s show, Ozzy would come out top of a giant head which had a catapult at the back full of raw meat which he’d launch at the audience.
His fans would end up covered in intestines and livers, so they would show up with their own to throw at Ozzy and his band.
He remembered how they would throw raw chickens, sheep testicles, live snakes and even dead rats.
Ozzy said: “Someone threw this frog on stage. It was the biggest frog I’ve ever seen in my life and it was lying on its back.”

PROVIDENCE â The House of Representatives called off its meeting Tuesday after members of the senior and operational staff tested positive for COVID-19.
âIâm writing to let you know that certain members of the senior and operational staffs tested positive for COVID-19 early last week,â House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi wrote in a message to legislators. âOut of an abundance of caution, we felt it is appropriate to cancel the House session that was planned for this Tuesday, January 19.â
