The Pennsylvania primary election takes place today.
While the “off-year election” doesn’t generate the buzz of a presidential contest, these races affect Pennsylvanians in profound ways.
Voters will choose candidates in municipal, school board, county and judicial races, including the Harrisburg mayor’s contest. Those casting ballots will be voting for people who will help set local tax rates, establish school policies and rule on criminal cases. In many ways, these votes determine who will be deciding matters that you care about on a day-to-day basis.
If you requested a mail-in ballot to vote in Pennsylvania’s primary election but figure you may be out of time to send it in the mail, you still have some options. Some counties have drop boxes or satellite offices where you can return mail-in ballots or absentee ballots. The primary election is Tuesday, May 18.
