March 03, 2021 VACCINE czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said a total of 2,793 people have been inoculated with the Sinovac vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021.
On Monday, March 1, the vaccination campaign was launched at the UP-Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Center and Sanitarium, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine National Police General Hospital and Victoriano Luna Medical Center, all in Metro Manila.
The Department of Health (DOH) earlier said 756 people, mostly medical frontliners and uniformed personnel, were vaccinated.
Leading the list of vaccinees were PGH Director Gerardo Legaspi, testing czar Vince Dizon, Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo and Galvez.

In a virtual press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr reported that the first day of inoculation drive in hospitals such as the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) Tala Hospital, Philippine National Police General Hospital, V. Luna Medical Center and Veterans Memorial Medical Center was a success.
PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo, and Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Director Dr. Edsel Salvana were among the medical frontliners that received the vaccine on March 01.
“Maligaya po ang ating mga front liners kasi nga po nagkaroon sila ng peace of mind na bagamat sila po ay expose dito sa [Covid-19] virus, eh meron na silang proteksyon ngayon, (Although our front liners are exposed to the Covid-19 virus, they are now happy and confident that they are protected),” added Roque.

“As of yesterday, while they are still collating the reports, we got information that we are now at 2,428 vaccinees,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a television interview on Wednesday, March 3.
“For March 1 and March 2, these two days of vaccination we were able to provide already 2,000 plus doses of Sinovac vaccines,” she added.
The Philippines received its first batch of coronavirus vaccines donated by the Chinese government last Sunday, Feb. 28.
Vergeire in a press briefing on Tuesday, March 2, said that they were “content and happy” during the first day of the country’s vaccination program.

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH 7 spokesperson, issued the clarification Wednesday, March 3, after two Cebu City councilors said they were willing to be vaccinated to build trust in the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Except for Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) deputy chief implementer for the Visayas Melquiades Feliciano, Loreche said all vaccinees at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) on Thursday, March 4, will be medical frontliners.
