Mary Toy: So because of the COVID-19 pandemic we did convert our scheduled July and September 2020 site visits for VISN (Veterans Integrated Service Networks) 10 and VISN 20 facilities to virtual reviews. We dropped our usual physical inspections with the physical rounds that are done for the environmental care review, and instead initiated an evaluation of COVID readiness and response instead. So to conduct these virtual reviews, we interviewed the facility leaders and staff by video teleconference, and gathered VA staffs feedback through an anonymous electronic survey. U.S. Attorney Bill Powell, of the Northern District of West Virginia, has announced his resignation effective midnight on February 28, 2021.   Powell, a graduate of Salem College and West Virginia University College of Law, had previously served as the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Jefferson County, West Virginia. He has also held positions as a Member of Jackson Kelly, PLLC, and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. “It has been my great professional honor to work with the dedicated men and women in the Northern District of West Virginia.  It was that dedication along with their hard work that the districts’ successes were possible.  I believe this district serves as an example of consistency, fairness and effectiveness.  I always did my best to serve justice

From staff reports WHEELING U.S. Attorney Bill Powell has announced his resignation effective midnight on Feb. 28. Powell oversees operations in the Northern District of West Virginia which includes federal courthouses in Wheeling, Clarksburg, Elkins and Martinsburg. “It has been my great professional honor to work with the dedicated men and women in the Northern District of West Virginia,” he said in a news release issued Wednesday. “It was that dedication along with their hard work that the districts’ successes were possible. I believe this district serves as an example of consistency, fairness and effectiveness.” U.S. attorneys typically are replaced when a new administration takes power in Washington. Powell has served since 2017 and was nominated for the post by former president Donald Trump.
