Over $6 Million Awarded To Homeless Veterans In L.A. County For Rental Assistance
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $6.4 million in rental assistance and housing vouchers to help veterans at risk of experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, including those in Santa Clarita, officials said Thursday.
The supportive housing assistance is provided through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program, which combines rental assistance from HUD with case management and clinical services provided by the VA, according to the department.
A component of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, the HUD-VASH vouchers being awarded enable homeless veterans to obtain affordable, decent housing in the private market, according to officials.
