DARTMOUTH South Dartmouth resident Alex Simon says his growing business, Ace Junk Removal, is not only about removing junk, but helping people get back their space.
“I feel like there are many people who feel helpless with the amount of stuff they have collected over time, and I get to come in and tell them everything is going be fine,” said Simon.
Simon grew up in Dartmouth doing freelance jobs around the community such as landscaping, mowing and dumpster runs. He said he strangely preferred helping people take their junk away.
“I kind of fell in love with it,” he said. “I m not a very meticulous or particularly organized person at home ask my wife she ll confirm that but I found that I love to clean for other people.
“It’s time for the commission to do what it’s supposed to do,” Knights said.
Northeast Alternatives and its chief executive Chris Harkins have not been named in a federal court case now underway in Boston charging former Fall River mayor Jasiel Correia with extortion and taking kickbacks from potential marijuana business interests who wanted to operate in the city.
Assistant Attorney General Julie Green, representing the Cannabis Control Commission, did, however, said that Harkins is expected to testify in the trial.
Green told the judge that the trial is not an impediment to the cannabis commission rendering a decision.

FALL RIVER Kerry Barlow has resigned herself to the fact that the new $13.50 state minimum wage is causing her to pay more for her daily fix of Dunkin’ brand hot and cold coffees.
“I’m paying for their raise, basically,” Barlow said, referring to minimum wage earners, after placing an order at the Dunkin’ inside the 7-Eleven on New Boston Road.
She doesn’t accuse franchise owners of being greedy.
“If I’m the owner I understand I have to raise prices to make money. I get it,” she said.
Barlow, 48, says she stops at Dunkin’ on her way into work and orders both a large hot and a medium frozen coffee. On her way home she stops off for another frozen coffee.
