On a ground-level Darlinghurst billboard advertising Jaguar vehicles with the slogan âsorry to appear aggressiveâ, the retired nurse and long-time human rights activist had, at 9.15am on August 14, 2019, used a liquid chalk marker to add his two cents: âSorry to bully innocent people in concentration camps for six years. But thatâs Australia.â
A police officer has been charged after an alleged assault at Surry Hills last year.
Officers from Professional Standards Command have been investigating an alleged assault during the arrest of a teenager at Ward Park on Monday 1 June 2020.
Following inquiries, a male constable who is now attached to a command in Southern Region, was issued with a court attendance notice today (Tuesday 4 May 2021) for the offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
The officer is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 24 June 2021.
His employment status is under review.

A NSW Police officer has been charged with assaulting an Aboriginal teenager during an arrest in Sydney last year.
Mobile phone footage of the incident allegedly showed the male constable kicking the teenager s legs from underneath him, and also pushing his face into the ground.
The arrest took place in Ward Park in Surry Hills on June 1 last year and has been under investigation by professional standards.
