School teacher Monica Young who had sex with boy, 14, prepares for prison

10:44 EDT, 28 May 2021 A Sydney high school teacher who has admitted to repeatedly having sex with a 14-year-old student is using her last days of freedom to prepare for her future in jail.  Monica Young, 24, swapped her usual formal clothing for a Nike tracksuit and was looking noticeably leaner as she reported to a south western Sydney police station as part of her stringent bail conditions.  The disgraced teacher has been undergoing physical and mental assessment ahead of what Downing Centre District Court has heard will inevitably be a prison sentence. Young has already had a taste of jail life at Silverwater Women s Correctional Centre where she spent a month on remand after her arrest on July 10 last year.

No leniency for Jack de Belin as NRL says he ll remain banned

Jack de Belin will remain banned from playing in the NRL even as he faces the prospect of a third trial on rape charges, extending his period out of the game potentially through to the end of this season. A second trial failed to reach a verdict on Monday on five of the six charges the St George-Illawarra player is facing, meaning he now faces the prospect of a third hearing, with a decision to be made by prosecutors on May 28. He is not allowed to play under the NRL s contentious No-Fault-Stand Down rule which prevents players taking to the field while facing serious criminal charges, even if they plead not guilty.
